David Scott is Principal in the consulting firm bearing his name in addition to Locomotive Residual Management, LLC. Principle efforts in these are Design Engineering and Strategy consultation for the world wide railway and locomotive markets and Fleet Locomotive Management and Disposition services. He has pursued these areas for the last 5 years consulting with the major market players.

He spent the bulk of his 38 year General Motors career rising from Diesel engine design engineer to Executive Director at the former General Motors Electro-Motive Division, the historically dominant builder of Diesel Electric Locomotives for the world market. His responsibilities at EMD included Product Engineering, Research and Development, Worldwide End Product Sales and Marketing (Locomotives and Diesel Engines), Worldwide Aftermarket Sales and Marketing, Customer Care and Product Service, Programs Management and Business Development.

His specialties include Locomotive and Diesel Engine Design, Marketing, Product Support, Sales, Heavy Manufacturing, Strategy and M+A. He holds a BME degree from Kettering University and MSME from University of Illinois. He has attended the PMD program at the Harvard Business School.
